How aligned is your school on AI?
Most schools are stuck between banning AI and hoping for the best. This diagnostic scores your school against a different approach, teaching students to use AI responsibly through a 3-step method, across the four things that decide whether it works. Twelve questions, about four minutes. You leave with a score, a prioritized action plan, and three starter documents you can use right away.
First, the approach you're scored against: the 3-step method
Responsible AI Users teaches students, educators, and parents the same three steps for working with AI. Instead of banning the tools or trusting them blindly, students learn to direct AI, judge what it produces, and stay the author of their own work. Here is the method, since everything in this diagnostic is measured against it:
Prompt engineering
Asking AI well. Before opening the tool, the student states what they're working on and what they need from it, the context and the purpose. A vague question earns a vague answer; a clear, purposeful prompt is the first act of thinking, not a shortcut around it.
Output evaluation
Judging what comes back. AI sounds confident even when it's wrong, so students verify its claims against trusted sources, and check for errors and bias before using anything it produced. Nothing goes into their work on the AI's say-so alone.
Human synthesis
Making it their own. The student integrates AI's output with their own thinking, decides what to keep and what to change, and owns the final result. They can explain it, defend it, and stand behind it as theirs.
The diagnostic that follows measures how well your school teaches and supports these three steps, in policy, in the classroom, among staff, and at home, where most AI use actually happens and habits harden.
The four dimensions you'll be scored on
Start the diagnostic
Answer for your school as it is today, not as the handbook wishes it were. Honest answers make a useful plan.
Your answers stay in this tab. Nothing is sent anywhere, and you can retake the diagnostic whenever you want to measure progress.
Score by dimension
Your prioritized action plan
Ordered weakest dimension first, so the plan starts where the score says it matters most. Each action names an owner and a timeframe.
Starter documents
Filled in with your school's name, date, and scores. Copy them as-is, download them, and edit freely. They're yours.
You have the plan. Get help executing it.
A diagnostic tells you where you stand; turning it into trained teachers, a working policy, and parents who are in the loop is the hard part.
